About the website

This is a student project about the way in which 9/11 is remembered. It was completed over the course of a semester, from September 2010 until March 2011.

This website is divided into

  • On-site Investigation: Presentation of the different ways of remembrance in a personal blog and impressions of the anniversary day through a short video
  • Articles about the different sites and ways of remembrance
  • Reflection on the results

For the on-site investigation we traveled to New York City for the anniversary weekend and the week following it. We collected personal impressions presented in the blog and in a video. We also collected visual material (partially incorporated into the blog, and articles), conducted two interviews and gathered further first-hand information presented in the articles.

With our project we wanted to gain an insight into the ways in which 9/11 is remembered. This website provides an overview of our findings, our personal experiences and a reflection on the results of the project.

We hope that this project will also be of use for other students of American Studies  or those interested in the topic of remembering 9/11. We welcome comments, suggestions and criticism in our Feedback section.
